Flipboard for Windows 8.1 is now available on the Windows Store to download. A similar app for Windows Phone is reportedly in works.
Microsoft announced the arrival of the official Flipboard app for Windows 8.1, the popular app that allows you to create your own journal, and select the news from different sources.
The app has brought the core functionality to the Windows platform same as the iOS and Android versions. Windows users can also take advantage of some exclusive – proprietary – features such as live tile and snap view.
Flipboard is one of the favorite apps for the users who want to stay up to date related to different topics. With a few taps of a finger or mouse clicks, you can search for articles, read stories, view photos and videos – also from the social networks.
To get started, simply choose your interest from various categories like technology, photography, sports, travel, music and so on, to create your own personal journal. The first page shows a tile for each selected categories, featuring the most popular headline. In addition to aforementioned sources, the Discover button lets you choose the news sources connecting social networks such as Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and many others.
Users can pin the Flipboard app on the Start screen as well as each magazine, separately. Users can also share their personal journal with their friends. It also offers Facebook Login, announced yesterday.
Moreover, a similar app for Windows Phone 8 is also in works. Last month, At Nokia World event, the Fin Company only teased a photo of that particular version, and it may arrive by the end of this year.
