Sony schedules a press event on March 18, Xperia L and Xperia SP coming?

Sony Mobile has scheduled a press event on the 18th of March in its Russian branch. It seems that the company plans to make some important announcements at the event regarding its new range of smartphones.

Experts believe that this event might be focused on the announcement of the Sony Xperia SP and the Sony Xperia L which are said to be the mid-segment smartphones that will be announced this year by the company.

The Sony Xperia SP (C530X) and the Sony Xperia L (C210X) might be showcased at the press event, and the company might also give out its sales plan regarding these two new smartphones.

The Sony Xperia SP will have a 4.6-inch HD display with a resolution of 720p. The smartphone will be powered by a 1.7 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor and 1 GB of RAM. It will have an in-built storage space of 16 GB and will have a memory card slot for storage expansion. The Xperia SP will also have an 8 MP Exmor RS Primary Camera and 2100 mAh battery. It is said that there will be another version of the Xperia SP which will have a quad-core processor, 13 MP Primary Camera, 2600 mAh battery and the device will be dustproof and water resistant just like the Xperia Z.

On the other hand, the Sony Xperia L will have a 1 GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, an Adreno 305 GPU and 1 GB of RAM. The device will have a 4.3-inch display with a resolution of 480 x 854 pixels, 8 GB of internal storage plus a micro SD card support. The Primary Camera of the Xperia L will be an 8 MP Exmor RS camera and the device will run on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

If Sony does have plans to announce the Xperia SP and Xperia L at the event, we assume that these devices will be out in the market very soon. The Sony Xperia SP will be priced somewhere around EUR 300, whereas the Sony Xperia L will be priced around EUR 200.
