Reportedly, Sony Xperia Z1F will be known as the Xperia Z1S or Xperia Z1 Mini probably in other regions.

A couple of weeks ago, Sony’s Xperia Z1F has been released exclusively under the Chinese cellular network, DoCoMo, and Sony’s Chinese website has also teased an event scheduled for January 3rd. That could be a possible date for the announcement of the Sony Xperia Z1 Mini, the counterpart of the Chinese Z1F, albeit for the rest of the world.

On contrare with the Galaxy S4 Mini which specs can’t meet the ones the full-sized Galaxy S4 has, the Xperia Z1 Mini defines the word “powerhouse.”

From its bigger brother, it keeps the quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon CPU, 2GB of RAM, and the 20.7MP sensor. It will ostensibly feature a smaller 4.3-inch HD display and accommodate a smaller battery as well, at 2300mAh. Though, based on recent battery tests, it appears the Xperia Z1 Mini battery lasted longer than the 3000mAh the Xperia Z1 has. That is obviously attributed to the lower screen resolution. In addition, the mini variant scored 35,000 on its AnTuTu benchmark test, which is quite impressive.

The device is expected to be announced by the company itself on the 3rd of January, and be launched few days after CES 2014. Till then we’ll sure see a bunch of similar alleged photos of the device surfacing on the web.

  1. @Tauseef Thanks for sharing your thoughts Tauseef. I agree, this year will be all about mid-range devices featuring high-end specs. The first device which indicated that is HTC’s Desire 500 packing all the goodies you mentioned in your comment.

  2. The year 2014 will be of smartphones with 2GB or higher RAM & Quadcore processors. We’ve seen couple of phone this years as well but in 2014 we’ll see more phones in that category. This looks like an international version of Sony Xperia Z1 Mini.
