Lenovo announced four new Android smartphones right before the CES 2014. The list includes the first proprietary phone with 4G LTE connectivity: Vibe Z, two of S series: S930, S650 and A859.
There was a time when Lenovo used to suffer the lack of 4G LTE connectivity while launching new technologies into its smartphones in anticipation of the direct competitors. The first solution: Vibe Z is going to hit the stores with robust hardware that characterize it as a high-end dual-SIM (GSM+GSM) smartphone.
The Vibe Z has a 5.5-inch 1080p display with a pixel density of 401ppi. Inside 5.5 mm thick phone, it has a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor clocked at 2.2GHz and Adreno 330 GPU with 2GB of RAM to command.
With 16GB of internal storage, it’s powered by a 3000 mAh battery. In addition to LTE, there’re also support for the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth concavity. On the camera front, a 13-megapixel sensor with f/1.8 sits at the top of the rear panel with an LED flash while 5-megapixel front facing camera for video chat.
It’s the most advanced smartphone ever launched by Lenovo until today and inherits the design from the Vibe X and the Yoga tablet. At the software level, Lenovo has used Android 4.3 Jelly Bean as the Vibe Z’s operating system.
The Vibe Z will be available from February in the Asian market, at a price of $549 (off-contract). While, there’s no concrete information about its availability in the US and Europe.
In addition to the Vibe Z, the Chinese manufacturer has also announced two new S series phones: Lenovo S930 and S650. The first is characterized by a 6-inch 720p display, powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek 6582 chipset with 1GB of RAM, and runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean while the second one has the specifications similar to its elder brother, though it integrates 4.7-inch display. Both S930 and S650 will be available for $319 and $229, respectively.
Finally, the fourth device is the Lenovo A859, a cheap smartphone that will cost $219. Buying it, you will get a 5-inch 720p display and a glossy plastic shell with the same specs as S930 and S650. All these three smartphones are dual-SIM devices (GSM-WCDMA) with 3G support.
