The team behind the Pebble smartwatch has plans to announce “something special” on January 6 at the CES 2014.
The folks at Pebble teased a special announcement by CEO Eric Migicovsky on Monday during the opening day of the well-known event in Las Vegas. re no words on the product or service yet, but according to various rumors, it could be the new second generation smartwatch.
The Pebble watch is indeed about a year old now, and the company led by Eric has a lot more competition than earlier they struggled last year. So likely the Pebblers would have been working on the second-gen of its wearable, the popular iOS-compatible smart watch.
On the other hand, the Pebble recently announced the arrival of an upcoming app store, so it does make sense to introduce a new smartwatch that supports it to the fullest.
As per schedule, the announcement will be made on Monday by its CEO Migikovsky and streamed live directly on the official website on Monday, January 6 at 11 AM Pacific (2 PM Eastern).
This is the second time in a row that the company takes advantage of the stage at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES). Last year during the CES event they announced the expected date of shipment of its first watch, funded through the Kickstarter platform.
Apart this, we may learn more about the Pebble app store at CES this year, which has seven categories of apps including watch faces, games, apps for notifications, apps to control the device remotely, fitness, tools and utilities.
