In a surprise move, Spotify proved itself as one of the most viable platforms dedicated to listening to music online for both the catalog of songs made available to users and how to use the service.
The music streaming service made a new entry on the official blog on Wednesday and announced, “No more time limits on Spotify.” Starting today, users can enjoy free music streaming with no subject to any restrictions. In other words, even the free accounts will be able to play all the music as they want.
Here’s the excerpt of the blog post:
“In the past, we had to restrict your listening time to some hours a month once a 6-month unlimited grace period had passed. But now, if you haven’t noticed, there’s no more time limit if you are using Spotify for free. We have removed these caps completely across all platforms – you can listen to your favorite songs as many times as you like, for as long as you want.”
Although, it should be noted that there’s no restriction in terms of time, however all those holding a free account will be forced to listen to adverts in between songs. Recently, the streaming platform brought a similar initiative in shuffle mode for mobile devices, but didn’t allow to play the choice of the playlist.
The move by Spotify is also important as the news comes just a few days ahead of the debut of Beats Music, competing service operated by the group of Dr. Dre, which will open in the United States next week.
