High FPS is one the main advantages to playing Fortnite on PC, so here are the best settings to get the most from your system in 2022.
If you’re playing Fortnite on PC, it’s vital that you make sure you have the best settings possible to boost your FPS. Otherwise, you could find yourself at a severe disadvantage. That’s why we’ve put together the ultimate guide to getting the best Fortnite PC settings.
If you’re playing a shooter game such as Fortnite, the last thing you want is FPS issues. Imagine you’re in a gunfight, about to eliminate an opponent, only for your game to start stuttering and send you back to the loading screen.
With that in mind, it’s vital to have the best PC settings possible. It’s not just about having high FPS, or frames-per-second, but making sure that your game is stable so random stuttering doesn’t ruin your matches.
While you may think you need to spend thousands on a high-spec gaming PC, you can boost your performance with the right settings. So, take a look at our best settings, tips, and tricks to see if you can boost your Fortnite FPS.
Thanks to Epic Games, we know which PCs will run Fortnite.
The minimum requirements are low, but you likely won’t get great visuals or be able to hit high FPS. Still, it should run well enough for you to enjoy the game.
If you intend to run the game at the maximum settings, you’ll need a beefy gaming rig complete with a good graphics card.
To get the optimal performance from your system and make sure Fortnite runs as smoothly as possible, you need to make sure your graphics drivers are up-to-date.
Here’s how to update your graphics drivers on NVIDIA and AMD GPUs.
If you have an NVIDIA graphics card, the GeForce experience app will handle this for you.
If you have an AMD GPU, you can use the Radeon Settings to update your drivers.
NIVIDA DLSS (or Deep Learning Super Sampling) is a clever technology that allows players with an NVIDIA RTX Series graphics card to run Fortnite at high resolution while still maintaining a solid frame rate.
DLSS sets your game to a lower resolution, giving a higher frame rate, but uses the technology to give the appearance of high resolution. It perfectly combines visuals and performance.
You can find the DLSS settings in the Advanced Graphics section of the Video tab, right at the very bottom.
From here, you can set DLSS as either Performance, Balanced, or Quality. You’d only need Performance if playing at 4K, otherwise Balanced or Quality would suit a 1440p resolution.
On a low-end system, you want to shoot for 60 FPS. This will give you smooth and stable performance, but you can take it higher by changing certain settings.
We’ve picked out the settings that will have the biggest impact on Fortnite’s performance, and given you the optimal options to select for high FPS.
The only setting you want to have on High or Epic is View Distance. Seeing players, builds, and loot in the distance is vital and worth losing a few frames for.
If your PC is struggling with View Distance set to Epic, experiment with lowering it.
Ray Tracing can be found at the very bottom of the Settings tab, but you want to have it all turned off. It will make your game look great, but will absolutely tank your performance.
High-end systems can take advantage of a combination of stunning graphics and high FPS. We’ve got the best settings to take advantage of your high-end gaming rig.
The only setting you want to have on Epic is View Distance. Seeing players, builds, and loot in the distance is vital and worth losing a few frames for. We’ve recommended medium settings for high-end hardware, but feel free to experiment if your system can handle it.
Ray Tracing can be found at the very bottom of the Settings tab, but it’s unnecessary. Even if your rig can handle it, it’s not worth sacrificing frames for in multiplayer games like Fortnite.
The recommended Fortnite FPS is a tricky question to answer and really is based on your existing monitor and its refresh rate. The refresh rate is how many frames your monitor can show per second, and is measured in Hertz, or Hz.
If you have a monitor that has a 60Hz refresh rate, there’s no point running your game at 120 FPS, as you’re wasting your PC’s performance on frames your monitor can’t show.
If you know your refresh rate, we recommend going 10 FPS over that number, which should give you optimal performance without wasting too much processing power.
If you’re playing on an outdated PC or want to squeeze every last frame out of your system, perhaps performance mode is for you.
This offers “significant performance gains” by reducing the visual quality of the game. This will lighten the load on your GPU and CPU, making Fortnite run at much higher frames. Fortnite won’t look as pretty, but you’ll see a massive boost in FPS.
To set Fortnite to Performance Mode:
Try out these settings on Fortnite Battle Royale for PC, and you will see a marked improvement in the game’s performance.

Fortnite went through some major changes in Season 3, and we’ve picked out the five best landing spots to help you get Victory Royales.
If you want to grab a victory royale in Season 3, you need to find the best Fortnite landing spot. If you’re struggling to loot up in the early game, or just want to switch up your drop, here are the top POIs you should be heading for.
Fortnite Chapter 3, Season 3 may be themed around Vibin’, but there’s no relaxation to be found on this island. As always, players are dropping in and hunting you down, desperate to secure the crown and a Victory Royale for themselves.
From Grapple Gloves to Ballers, there are plenty of ways to get around the island, but picking a good landing spot is required to give you any chance of a win. With that in mind, we’ve picked out some of the best landing spots in Fortnite Season 3.
Best Fortnite Landing Spots
Rave Cave is a hot drop in Season 3, but that doesn’t mean you should avoid it. This location is a theme park, and you’ll definitely find adrenaline here. You’re likely to run into enemies here, but inside Rave Cave are a number of chests, plenty of ground loot, and Slurp Barrels to pump up your Shields too.
On top of that, Ballers can be found in this location, there’s a launch pad to give you a quick getaway, and smaller caves that can provide cover from opponents and looting opportunities too.
Reality Falls is a new biome in Season 3, erasing Camp Cuddle from the island. This is an excellent landing spot, with several waterfalls and caves dotted around this location.
While heading to the tree is fun, we recommend aiming for the waterfalls that sit to the north-east of the giant sapling. Check behind the falling water, and discover a hidden cave with chests, floor loot, and healing items.
The buildings surrounding Chonker’s Speedway contain plenty of chests for you to search through, with some outbuildings to the west too that contain decent loot.
You can also hop into a sports car at the racetrack in order to get around the island quicker. These vehicles have already been fitted with off-road tires, making them ideal for driving across different terrains.
The Glow isn’t a POI, but is classed as a landmark. This small location is close to Loot Lake and is where the Zero Point is buried under rock.
The reason this landmark is so great is that there are around 13 Legendary chests dotted around here, which means it’s easy to get your hands on some good weapons.
Greasy Grove is overrun with mushrooms, plants, and trees following the last Fortnite live event. Despite that, it’s still a great place to land.
With plenty of buildings, there is lots of loot available here. It also isn’t as hot a drop as places like Tilted Towers, which should help you make it out alive in the early game.
These are our picks for the five best landing spots in Fortnite Season 3. Next up, go find one of 25 NPCs on the Fortnite map with our handy guide, and complete some tasks.
With your new knowledge in hand, it’s time to jump out of the Battle Bus and go for some Victory Royales.

Here’s how you can complete the Fortnite Chapter 3, Season 3 Week 2 Quest to launch into the air using a Geyser.
A new batch of Weekly Quests is available in Fortnite Chapter 3, Season 3, and here’s how you can complete the one that requires you to launch into the air using Geysers.
Epic Games update Fortnite with brand-new Quests each week, and you can complete these challenges in order to earn bonus XP that will help you level up fast and progress through the Battle Pass tiers.
One of the new Weekly Quests tasks you with using a Geyser to launch yourself into the air, and this is easy to do if you know where to look. We’ll go over where you need to go in order to get this done.
You can find a large number of Geysers near the new Reality Falls POI on the western side of the island. There are also a few located just west of the Greasy Grove POI that’s near this location.
When you get to these locations, just keep an eye out for small volcanoes on the ground. Their exact locations have been marked on the Fortnite Chapter 3, Season 3 map by the Fortnite.GG website.
In order to launch yourself into the air, you just need to stand on top of the Geyser. This will cause your body to block the top and pressure will begin to build up inside the Geyser for a few seconds before you’re sent flying into the air.
You’ll need to do this 3 times in order to complete this challenge, and doing so will award you 15,000 XP. You can then earn more by completing the rest of the Fortnite Chapter 3, Season 3 Quests.
