It’s official! Samsung has tweeted confirming the date and time of first episode of SAMSUNG UNPACKED event, where it all but likely the Galaxy S5 and the second-gen of Galaxy Gear smartwatch will be unveiled.
After numerous rumors over the past few months, it’s already known, and now it has been confirmed. Samsung has already officially stated that it plans to launch its new flagship smartphone by the end of April along with the Galaxy Gear 2.
In addition, the annual Mobile World Congress is one of the most imperative technological event and has been a great stage to reveal such important announcements.
The importance of the event is the number 5 that indicates February 24 will be the day of the announcement of the Galaxy S5.
The Galaxy S5 is expected to have a new and fast Snapdragon family processor, WQHD display (2560 × 1440 pixels) of 5.25 inches, a fingerprint reader and a 16-megapixel camera with OIS. It may not have the much-talked iris reader – as yet not ready – but the phone would arrive in stores in two variants, one with a plastic body and the latter covered with a metal and even a better camera instead. Both run Android 4.4 KitKat with a new TouchWiz UI.
According to Reuters, the South Korean giant anticipated to launch the smartphone in three weeks because of sales recorded by the Galaxy S4, weaker than expected.
Samsung has been the global leader in the smartphone market, but recording a weak growth for the first time in seven years from a few months. Maybe this situation is due the strong competition from Apple and Chinese competitors, and being saturated high-end phones in the mobile market.
With the Galaxy S5, the company would attempt to regain the title again possibly introducing some innovation and a different design that make it different from the previous model.
The SAMSUNG UNPACKED 5 event will kick off at Barcelona, Spain on Monday, February 24, 2014 around 20:00 CET/14:00 EDT/11:30 PM IST and will streamed live on Samsung YouTube channel.
