In the list of Apple products expected this year, the next generation iPad Mini appears to be on top. We are quite sure that Apple will call name it as Apple iPad Mini 2 and we know that it will also have retina display.
Apple will launch a refreshed version of its most popular tablet the Apple iPad Mini by the second half of the year. According to DisplaySearch analyst Paul Semenza, this new iPad Mini 2 will have a retina display screen and will be announced in the second half of the year 2013. This prediction was based on supply chain data and he appears pretty confident about it.
Semenza said that this new iPad Mini will have double the pixel resolution compared to the one present on the current iPad Mini, hence giving you an even better and clearer display. It will have a display resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels which is the same as the one on the New iPad. The iPad Mini 2 will be an even better tablet as compared to the new range of 9.7-inch tablets since the iPad Mini 2 will have the same resolution but in a much smaller display size. In addition to that, the iPad Mini 2 will have a pixel density of 324 ppi whereas the New iPad has a pixel density of 264 ppi.
However, one thing that Apple will have to take care of is that the iPad Mini should not be too thick as compared to the current iPad Mini as the company fits the retina display in the device. So even though the new iPad Mini 2 will be providing us with a retina display, it should maintain the weight and slimness of the original iPad Mini. Semenza said that LG could be the most likely option to manufacture the retina display screens for the iPad Mini 2. Other options suggested by him were AU Optronics, Japan Display, and Sharp.
