Sony Mobile unveiled the Sony Xperia SP and Sony Xperia L Mid-segment smartphones

Sony Mobile recently announced its next generation flagship device, the Sony Xperia Z. Hardly a month after unveiling the best smartphone that the company has made till date, Sony is back again with two new smartphones, this time for the mid-segment market.

Sony has announced two new mid-range smartphones, the Sony Xperia SP and Sony Xperia L. Before we check out these two smartphones, let me tell you that they are not the high end next generation type smartphones that will blow your mind. The Xperia SP and Xperia L can very well be considered as the next generation mid-segment smartphones though.

Sony Xperia SP


The Sony Xperia SP has a 4.6-inch HD Reality Display with a resolution of 720p that is backed up by the Sony Bravia Engine 2 display technology. This smartphone runs on a Qualcomm 1.7 GHz dual-core MSM8960 Pro processor and has 8GB of internal storage with a MicroSD card slot which allows you to expand storage space. This smartphone has a high capacity battery of 2370 mAh and is available in Red, White and Black color options. The phone also has an 8 megapixel Exmor camera and an illuminated bottom bar that can change colors depending upon the way in which you customize in so that the device alerts you when you get an incoming call or a text message etc. The smartphone runs on the latest Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system.

Sony Xperia L


The Sony Xperia L is a little less powerful as compared to the Xperia SP. It has a 4.3-inch display with a screen resolution of 480 x 854 pixels. This smartphone is powered by the Qualcomm 1 GHz MSM8230 dual-core processor and runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system. Other important features include the 8 MP Exmor camera, 8 GB of internal storage space, MicroSD card support and a decent battery of 1750 mAh.

Sony plans to launch these two smartphones in markets all over the world by the second quarter of this year. If you are interested in any of these smartphones, then do keep your eyes and ears open as the smartphones will soon enter the consumer market.
