HTC Corp. has been doing some online teasing for its upcoming All new HTC One codenamed HTC M8. As if like a supermodel doing all possible poses before the lenses, the M8 made sure it was captured from all of its angles.
The new iteration of the HTC One is scheduled for an official unveiling on March 25, but the alleged images have leaked over the weekend on Sina Weibo, a Chinese microblogging site similar to Twitter, and later on scooped by tech blog Nowhereelse.
The newest flagship device of HTC looks like a smaller version of the One Max. In fact, the M8 will have a 5-inch screen while its bigger sibling has a slightly larger 5.9-inch display.
The newest handset from the struggling manufacturer is expected to sport a 1080p screen and have a Snapdragon 800 chip for its brain. It will run on Android 4.4.2 (KitKat) out of the box with the manufacturer’s Sense 6 atop plus some bloatware.
Just like what we can infer from previous leaked images, the M8 smartphone inherits the design language from its original version. Just like the HTC One, it features a unibody crafted from aluminum and also has that familiar front-facing dual BoomSound speakers.
The new images also showcase the UltraPixel main camera of the flagship model with dual sensor. Caught in the framing too is the dual-LED flash of the unit. The new batch of pictures also confirms rumors that there will be a slot for a microSD card. You can spot it on the left side of its body.
The M8’s headphone jack was also moved to its bottom edge from its top side. A branding of China Mobile is clearly seen on the leaked images and the unit shows connectivity to 4G.
While the images gave out a lot of clues of what the production unit will look like, we were not able to get a glimpse of what its user interface will be like. We only saw the phone’s lock menu, nothing more.
Information and images of the HTC M8 have been popping out over the Internet since last year. Last month, tech gadgets leaker @evleaks posted some press images of the new flagship model and gave everyone a sneak peek of the colorful line up the manufacturer has to offer. The M8 will be coming in gold, silver, gray, and white.
A video of a kid showing off and making an unofficial overview of the M8 spread like wild fire over the blogosphere last week. The company allegedly terminated an employee because of the leak and threatened the kid that it will be a very bad week for him.
If the second-gen of HTC One will be ready to grab from stores starting April or early, maybe it will be enough to steal some market share from the Samsung Galaxy S5.
