As iOS 7.1 share grows, various tests on the iPhone 4 show the OS has become much lighter and now runs comfortably on the device.
There’s good news for iPhone 4 owners who’re disappointed with the upgrade to iOS 7. Many users have reported random slowdown and performance issues in their iPhone 4. According to the some tests recently published on the internet, last update i.e. iOS 7.1 made available a couple of days back makes it fluid and faster.
Ars Technica has performed various tests to measure the execution speed of the common task on iPhone 4 running iOS 6.1.3, iOS 7 and iOS 7.1 on different devices. You can easily observe that the iOS 7 is slower than the iOS 6.1.3. However, iOS 7.1 lived up very close to the values of the latter, the differences are completely undetectable in the real life. The test was conducted using a long series of native apps including Safari, Camera, Mail, Messages, Calendar and many others.
The technology site cites: “There’s a measurable improvement over iOS 7.0 across all of these apps, some more noticeable than others. In a few instances, iOS 7.1 very nearly catches up with iOS 6.1.3, which is impressive given the gap between the two operating systems in some of these apps.”
In addition to these improvements, it seems the user interface is more fluid and smooth without annoying wait times and hangs with which the iPhone 4 users had learned to live with. The Cupertino’s commitment to the iPhone 4 shouldn’t be surprising as the company has resurrected the fourth generation of the iPhone in some emerging markets like India as a low-cost device to overcome the failure of iPhone 5C.
Clearly, if Apple wants to sell the older devices, they should be updated to the latest version of the operating system without stress and crossness for the owners. Hopefully, the iPhone 4 users will breathe a sigh of relief after upgrading it to iOS 7.1.
