Nikon has officially unveiled the 1 V3, a new mirrorless camera designed for those who want a fast, powerful and very compact capturing device.

The V3 shares typical Nikon 1 design with interchangeable lenses. It comes with 18.4-megapixel super high-speed AF CMOS sensor and the new EXPEED 4A image processor. It features a built-in phase detection autofocus at 105 points that ensures precise acquisition of moving objects, up to 20fps burst shooting and 60fps (Full-HD) continues shooting rate; Wi-Fi connectivity; and a 3-inch touch screen. Those who don’t want to use the display will be able to use Viewfinder, a dedicated accessory for the V3 with 0.48-inch, 2359K pixel color TFT LCD.

Like the previous models, the new mirrorless allows you to take photographs while recording a videos, but this time even at 720p and 120fps for slow motion effect. However, there’re other creative ways to enrich your movies including fast motion and jump cut, which allows you to crop the middle of the shot and to leave the remaining part.


Nikon 1 V3 is more advanced system than its predecessors and closer to the world of SLRs. The manufacturer points out, “The compact and lightweight body of the Nikon 1 V3 enables superior mobility, yet offers performance with tracking of moving subject that exceeds that of digital SLR cameras. It is a model that offers excellent image quality with superior sharpness and definition, and an operational feel similar to that of a digital SLR camera.”


The Japanese multinational corporation has also announced a new normal zoom lens – NIKKOR VR 10-30mm f/3.5-5.6 PD-ZOOM, which is compatible with the CX format. The new zoom lens allows you to capture images at high speed without requiring a tripod.
