While the Samsung Galaxy S5 availability is impending, the company is gearing up to expand its family, preparing the Galaxy S5 mini (model number SM-G800).
SamMobile has released a few tidbits on what we can expect from a budget variant of the Galaxy S5. According to the report, the phone will come with 4.5-inch Super AMOLED display with 720p resolution. Under the hood, it packs 1.5GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, IR blaster and 2100 mAh battery to keep the lights turned on.
There’s no word on the actual processor, except it will be manufactured by Qualcomm, though it may be a quad-core Snapdragon 400 SoC that new Nokia Lumia 630/635 powers.
The Galaxy S5 mini will feature an 8MP main camera with 2MP front-facing sensor. On the software front, it will run Android 4.4 KitKat on board.
By comparison, the upcoming Galaxy S mini phone has similar specifications that of the Galaxy S4 mini. Additionally, it could also be a water-resistant (IP67 certification) phone, inheriting some software features and from the Galaxy S5, but a heart rate and fingerprint sensor seem unlikely.
There’s no information on the Galaxy S5 mini release date and price, but we’re looking to peel more information about the smartphone, so stay tuned with us at later date for more bits.
