Windows Phone Uservoice website reveals that file manager app for Windows Phone 8.1 will arrive on store in June - formally dubbed as Files.
During the starting of this month, Microsoft’s Joe Belfiore said on Reddit AMA session that Microsoft was working on a file manager for Windows Phone 8.1 that would be distributed as an app on Windows Phone store in the month of May. However, May is about to wind-down, and it seems that the debut of the new app has been pushed to June.
The news comes in response to a query on Windows Phone Uservoice feedback website, where the admin replied that the app will arrive on Windows Phone store in June – formally dubbed as ‘Files’.
In June, we will be launching a great file manager app for Windows Phone 8.1 called “Files” … just look for it in the Store then.
The admin skipped to mention other details regarding the functionality of this app. According to the Reddit AMA session, Joe Belfiore previously revealed a number of screenshots of the file manager app that will allow users to access and interact with all files and directories on the device.
While waiting for the official release in June, the users who already have the Preview version of Windows Phone 8.1 or Nokia Lumia 630 can still rely on third party file managers (File Explorer, Aerize Explorer, Pocket Explorer) available on the Windows Phone Store, thanks to the new API provided by Microsoft.
