Microsoft released three popular titles, but you can expect some additional titles this year and others as far out as late 2015.

E3 is the conference that brings the video faithful together each year to celebrate innovation in the gaming industry and game consoles in particular. Last year, Microsoft revealed its Xbox One as an entertainment system that involved more than just games: you could also Skype chat from the Xbox One console. This year, however, new Microsoft CEO Phil Spencer focused on games.

Halo 5: Guardians, Rise of the Tomb Raider, and Sunset Overdrive are three new games revealed for Microsoft’s Xbox One – and all three look to be promising for Microsoft this year. Let’s get into these three exciting games.

Halo 5: Guardians

Microsoft decided to unveil a Halo Master Chief Collection at E3 this year, and many game analysts assumed this would be a way to entertain Xbox gamers until the Halo 5: Guardians release this Fall. Halo games 1-4 will all be “ported” games (despite Microsoft’s claim that the games aren’t ported). Halo 3 and 4, like 1 and 2, will be ported as well.

With all of these new games, you’ll be able to navigate through them at any time via what Microsoft is calling “the Master UI,” a new system that allows you to bring up any game at any time. A single playlist in the Halo collection will allow you to play all the flood missions, for example, in Halo games 1-3, or all the tank missions in Halo games 1-4. 343 Industries has pre-installed playlists from which you can choose; sorry gamers – there’s no customization of playlists here. Of course, there is multiplayer matchmaking, which lets you vote on the most popular playlists you’ve seen in former Halo games. In this case, whichever playlist is selected by you and your friends (gets the most votes) is the playlist into which you’ll be launched in the Halo Master UI. All four games will be available on a single Blu-Ray disc instead of four separate digital downloads.

Halo 5: Guardians won’t arrive until this Fall, but Halo fans will receive the game key designed to let them experience the game in its beta mode. You can find the game key in the Extras menu on the Master Chief disc. You can access Halo 5: Guardians beta from December 27, 2014 through January 22, 2015. Along with Halo 5: Guardians beta comes the new digital film preview to the new digital episode collection titled Halo: Nightfall. Nightfall is a new show that will air on November 11, 2014 and continue with a few episodic releases each week.

Rise of the Tomb Raider

Rise of the Tomb Raider, a new game soaring on the hit Tomb Raider series from Crystal Dynamics, will emerge in Q4 2015. The game places Lara Croft in therapy, seeking treatment after the events of the previous Tomb Raider game. Rise of the Tomb Raider, however, will bring Lara Croft to grips with her destiny: she is to become the Tomb Raider and accept this destiny. Once again, you can find Lara Croft killing enemies and yes, actually raiding tombs. Tomb raids had been removed in the previous version, but Crystal Dynamics will re-implement them in the Rise of the Tomb Raider for the sake of its customers.

Rise of the Tomb Raider is now up for pre-order for the Xbox One on Amazon.

Sunset Overdrive

Sunset Overdrive is about a city (yes, called Sunset City) where everyone’s drank a contaminated energy drink and have turned into mutants as a result. The people-turned-mutants are then going on the rampage, destroying the city and killing human beings who haven’t yet drank the deadly drinks. Those who’ve yet to turn into mutants are trying to fare and survive: some are lucky, and some, not so much. The goal of the game is to survive the mutant attacks, as well as the attacks by survivors who are fighting against you in order to survive.

Sunset Overdrive is set to release in October 2014 on Xbox One.

Games and Consoles: When can you expect new games?

Microsoft’s Xbox One was the talk of the show at E3 on Monday, but the company’s Xbox 360 also looks to get some new titles – along with Sony’s PS4 as well as the PC experience. Look below to find out what games are coming to what consoles in the future:
