Microsoft's Surface Pro 3 is headed to stores this Friday. In the meantime, the Surface Pro 2 has been discounted and is an option for the budget-friendly consumer.
You can always tell when a new tech gadget arrival is on the horizon: companies tend to discount their products ahead of a new gadget release. Apple does the same with its iPhones and iPads, and Google slashes prices of its Nexus line. Microsoft shouldn’t be left out as the company just lowered the price of its Surface Pro 2 models. By how much? Well, depending on what version of the Surface Pro 2 you order, you could save as much as $200.
Now, when you visit the Microsoft online store, you’ll be pleased to find that the 64GB Surface Pro 2, once priced at $899, now sells for just $799 (a $100 discount). The 128GB Surface Pro 2 has also been discounted from $999 to $899. The 256GB and 512GB Surface Pro 2 models have been discounted by $200, taking the 256GB Surface Pro 2 from $1,299 to $1,099, and the 512GB Surface Pro 2 from $1,799 to $1,599.
For a quick note, the Microsoft Surface Pro 2 weighs about 2 pounds and comes in Dark Titanium color with a 10.6-inch ClearType Full HD display with a 1920 x 1080p screen resolution. Both the front and back-facing cameras record 720p video and you will also find a microSD card slot, USB 3.0 port, headphone jack, and a stylus pen are all included along with Intel Core i5 processor running Windows 8.1. You can choose from 4 memory storage versions: 64, 128, 256, or 512GB, accordingly.
There are some other goodies, but these are services that’ll help you get the most out of your Surface Pro 2 tablet. First, you’ll get the privilege of having 200GB of cloud storage for 2 years – four times the storage Google provides with Google Drive as well as cloud storage provider Box (but Box’s 50GBs are permanent as opposed to a two-year offer), and 40 times the cloud storage provided by Dropbox. In addition to cloud storage from Microsoft, you also get free Skype Wi-Fi for an entire year. It’s an awesome gift for those who want to take their Surface Pro 2 tablets on the go and enjoy some internet while they’re at it.
If you’re willing to pass up the Surface Pro 2 offer, Microsoft now has the Surface Pro 3 in its online store starting $799.
