We’ve seen photos of the Windows HTC One M8 (or rather, the HTC One M8 for Windows), but the announcement is getting closer day by day. We also know that the announcement will be on August 19th, so that’s not a surprise, either.
Some may have wondered if, with the inclusion of some of HTC’s very own software with the device, whether or not the HTC One M8 for Windows would get Cortana integration. We’re here to tell you that Cortana has been confirmed for the Windows HTC One M8. Aside from the Cortana digital voice assistant, Windows users will also receive HTC’s original Dot View case that allows you to view time and weather without opening your phone cover to do so. Since Cortana will be just a swipe down, you won’t need to open the cover to activate Microsoft’s new digital voice assistant.
You get the same features and specs that you’ve seen with the Android version of the HTC One M8: a quad-core, 2.3Ghz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor (the most recent), 32GB of internal memory storage with up to 128GB of additional memory via the microSD card slot, a 5-inch, Gorilla Glass 3 Full HD display with 1920 x 1080p screen resolution, 1080p video recording, a 5MP HD front-facing camera and 4MP “UltraPixel” back camera, along with the One M8’s 2,600mAh battery. BoomSound and the One M8’s signature trademark audio speakers will be featured in the same place on the Windows One M8 as they are on the Android One M8.
What this means when taken together is that Windows Phone 8.1 will be coming to the new Windows HTC One M8 phone. As for what we know about its reveal, HTC and Microsoft are holding a press announcement in New York City on August 19. We’re sure that the announcement between an Android OEM and the head of Windows Phone and Windows OS isn’t happening by happenstance or sheer good luck. Yep, the Windows HTC One M8 is on the way.
