Two months ago, Indian manufacturer Micromax announced its first Windows Phone, the Canvas Win W121. The dual-SIM phone originally was announced as an exclusive for Flipkart and scheduled to hit the market in early July 2014.
But after getting delayed for one and half months, the W121 has finally made its way and is now available on Flipkart and Amazon India for Rs. 9,494.00 and 9,999.00, respectively.
Powered by the Windows Phone 8.1, the Canvas Win W121 features 5-inch HD IPS screen with a resolution of 720 x 1280 at 293.7 ppi, a quad-core 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage + microSD expandable up to 32GB. Back and front-facing camera equips 8MP with LED flash and 2MP sensors respectively.
And it makes a difference with a price point for other budget smartphones that lacks front camera or flash.
The phone packs a 2000 mAh battery, covered with a leather back panel, and features an array of sensors that includes a Proximity Sensor, Gravity Sensor, Light Sensor, and Accelerometer. In terms of connectivity features, the device supports GPRS, EDGE, 3G – HSDPA (21 Mbps), HSUPA (5.76 Mbps), Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.0 and micro USB v2.0.
Unlike the Nokia Lumia phones, the handset just comes with all basic perks of Windows Phone 8.1 only, but seems to give a healthy competition to many budget Android and Lumia phones.
The Canvas Win W092, the most affordable Windows Phone from Micromax has no release date thus far. However, there’s a lot of speculation in regards, and the W092 should be available within a week or two.
