Are you a fan of sleek, fast and highly multi-functional phones? If you are, then there is currently no better option for you than the Gionee Elife S5.1 phone. Previously, Gionee had laudably set a world record with the Gionee Elife S5.5 that was amazingly 5.5mm thin. This time, however, they’ve gone a notch higher by making a thinner phone, the Gionee Elife S5.1 that measures 5.15mm (0.2-inches).
As you’d probably expect, the Gionee Elife S5.1 comes with some high-end upgrades to ensure that the phone’s internals fit into the sleek smartphone. The slim phone, which is set to be released in China in the course of this month, is further complemented with impressive dimensions of 5.5” x 2.65” x 0.2.” and a 4.8-inch 720p display.
Even though the phone doesn’t have microSD slot, it comes with a 16GB of Storage that is adequate for the storage of many videos, music or any other types of files, for that matter.
Unlike the Gionee Elife S5.5 that was packed with an octa-core SoC and 2GB of RAM, the Elife S5.1 has a Snapdragon 400 SoC and 1GB of RAM. This, of course, makes the Elife S5.1 a slight downgrade to the Elife S5.5. Also, whereas most smartphones that are currently released get the Android 4.4 KitKat update, the Gionee Elife S5.1 is said to have the Android 4.3 OS with Amigo 2.0 on top.
However, to make up for these specs, the thin smartphone comes with remarkable cameras—the front-facing camera is 5MP, while the rear camera is 8MP. Based on the decent picture clarity and a variety of options provided by these cameras, the phone could be very popular among photo and video enthusiasts.
As the new thinnest smartphone on the planet, the Gionee Elife S5.1 is expected to come at a high, but relatively affordable price. Considering the success of the previous phones released by Gionee, it would be interesting to see how the new phone performs when it hits the streets.

For some people, the specs of the new phone, compared to its predecessors and other rivals in the market, will make it unpopular. However, for those who are diehard fanatics of sleek gadgets, the Gionee Elife S5.1 is the ultimate buy. Which of these two groups do you belong to, and why?
