Sony provides consumers a glimpse of their latest smartphone roster after unveiling the Xperia Z3, Z3 Compact and E3 Android smartphone over at the IFA 2014.

Sony is set to offer three new android smartphones, two of which will be part of the flagship series. The new members of the Xperia Z series clan are the high-end Xperia Z3 and the Z3 compact while the third device, the Xperia E3 is said to be the budget-friendly offering.

The Sony Xperia Z3 is said to be the upgraded version of the Xperia Z2, a device that offers striking features such as a 5.2 inch screen that carries a 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution, powered by a 2.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon quad-core processor that is backed up by 3GB of RAM and run on Android 4.4 KitKat.

Xperia Z3 is said to be lighter and thinner, encased in aluminum. The rectangular handset measures 146x72x7.3 mm and weighs only 152 grams. Available in 16GB and 32GB storage variants, expandable through microSD cards of up to 128GB. The Xperia Z3 is available in four different colors black, white, copper and silver green.

Sony Xperia Z3 sports 3100 mAh battery that can provide 740 hours of standby time. There is no word yet on the actual release date as well as the pricing for this Sony high-end device for now.

The Sony Xperia Z3 Compact on the other hand is considered the mini version of the Xperia Z3. It sports 4.6-inch (1280 x 720p) screen, weighing 129 grams with 8.64 mm thickness.

Though the compact version is smaller, it will be powered by the same 2.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon Quad-core processor and Android 4.4.4 KitKat. Along with 2GB of RAM and 2600 mAh battery, it will be available in 4 colors orange, green, black and white.

The last device shown off was the budget-friendly Xperia E3 which boast a 4.5-inch IPS screen that has a resolution of 854×480 pixels, powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 1.2 GHz quad core processor and 1GB of RAM, along with 2,330 mAh battery. It has 4GB of memory but can be expanded via MicroSD card up to 32GB. Other specs worth noting are that it has a dual-SIM capability, a 5MP back camera and VGA front-facing camera and three colored variants black, lime, and copper. There aren’t exactly the impressive specs for people who want quality photos. But then again, do remember that this is a budget-friendly phone.
