Microsoft has unveiled the Lumia 830. The company cites the Lumia 830 with its exemplary features, is the “affordable flagship phone”, and even better than Apple iPhone 5S and Samsung Galaxy S5.

Microsoft recently revealed the company’s latest Windows Phone, the Lumia 830 during the IFA 2014 in Berlin. The announcement was part of the company’s presentation of new Lumia smartphones including the Lumia 730 Dual-SIM and Lumia 735.

Microsoft has referred to Lumia 830 as the “thinnest and lightest Lumia” to date and it is also dubbed as the “affordable flagship phone” offering from the company. During the launch, Microsoft even called out other competitors in the market stating that the Lumia 830 is better than Apple iPhone 5S and Samsung Galaxy S5 in terms of features and pricing. Chris Weber, the CVP of Mobile Device Sales from Microsoft highlighted one its selling point: price. The introductory price of Lumia 830 is priced around EUR330 (US$440) which is quite lower as compared to the two leading smartphones from Apple and Samsung respectively.

The Lumia 830 has a dimension size of 139.4 x 70.7 x 8.5 mm and weighs around 150g. It features a 5-inch HD (720×1280 pixels) ClearBlack IPS LCD display with a pixel density of 296ppi. It has a quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor clocked at 1.2 GHz, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage with microSD expansion (up to 128GB), 15GB of free cloud storage, second-generation wireless charging plate for a 2200mAH battery, and NFC capabilities. One of its defining features however is its 10MP PureView Camera with Carl Zeiss optics with the “thinnest” Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) and its 1MP front-facing camera. It also has additional features such as Dynamic Flash that controls it flash features, Rich Capture, a Selfie app that allows users to utilize the rear camera for “selfie needs”, photo sharing features, and other customizable settings.

The Lumia 830 runs Windows Phone 8.1 with Lumia Denim firmware, bringing Office, OneDrive, Cortana, and more on the table. Connectivity features includes USB 2.0, Bluetooth 4.0, 802.11a/b/g/n Wi-Fi, A-GPS and Glonass.

The Lumia 830 is available in 4 different colors including bright green, bright orange, dark gray, and stunning white. Microsoft also announced that the company will start shipping the Lumia 830 globally later this month.
