Microsoft has updated and rebranded the Nokia Glam Me app. The updated app is now called Lumia Selfie and will pre-loaded on upcoming handsets.
Just a few hours after the announcement, the Lumia Selfie app is now available for download from Windows Phone Store. The app is exclusive to Lumia phones and takes center stage on “selfie phone,” the Lumia 730/735.
The Lumia Selfie app is a self-portrait app that is used to take selfies using the front-facing as well as rear camera. The app detects faces and gives more power to users to utilize megapixels of rear camera, allowing manual adjustments for facial details and color effects. You can also make the perfect pictures with existing photos and share with your friends.
So, the app sticks with the Lumia branding and has no new features than its previous version the Glam Me. Over the last quarter, Microsoft has renamed many Nokia apps like Nokia Cinemagraph is now Lumia Cinemagraph. And, Lumia Selfie app seems to be the part of a transition that the Redmond giant has been through.
Additionally, Microsoft has also updated the Nokia Camera app that has become Lumia Camera now. The app is now much faster and allows to capture 4K videos at 24fps by long pressing the camera button, which can be used to select individual frames for high-res pictures. The 4K video capability requires a Lumia 930/Icon and Lumia 1520 with the Lumia Denim software update, which will be rolled out by the end of 2014.
