Sony Xperia Tablet Z can be pre-ordered unlocked for £399 (16GB Wi-Fi model), £449 (32GB model) and £499 (16GB LTE model) including VAT.
The British online retailer Clove and the Japan-based Sony Corp. have started taking pre-orders for the 10.1-inch Sony Xperia Tablet Z in the UK. Back in February, the Android 4.1 based Xperia Tablet Z was introduced at MWC with its global availability set to spring this year.
The latest reports have revealed that the tab is scheduled to hit stores in the UK starting from May 20. Sony Xperia Tablet Z can be pre-ordered unlocked for £399 (16GB Wi-Fi model), £449 (32GB model) and £499 (16GB LTE model) including VAT.
The 10.1-inch Tablet Z offers 1920 x 1200 HD Reality display powered by Mobile BRAVIA Engine 2. This 495gm hefty slab measures 6.8 x 10.47 x 0.24 inches and sports a 1.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 quad-core processor along with Adreno 320 GPU, 2GB on board RAM, a 16GB/32GB of internal storage, and a MicroSD slot.
The device features an 8.1-megapixel camera on the rear end that can capture videos at 1080p and also comes with a 2.2-megapixel front-facing camera.
The tab runs Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean, which can be upgraded to Android 4.2 shortly after its release. It incorporates a 6,000mAh Li-polymer Battery which also offers STAMINA mode for improved battery life.
It offers support for Bluetooth v4.0, WLAN802.11 a/b/g/n, NFC, LTE, DLNA, Wi-Fi and GPS. Further, it is capable of transferring data via 3G HSPA and 4G LTE.
One other feature that is similar in both the Xperia Tablet Z and the Xperia Z smartphone is the high resistance to water as well as dust which makes the Xperia Tablet Z the most durable tablet available today.
The pre-orders have been commenced, and the willing customers can book their device on sony.co.uk and clove.co.uk. It should be noted that currently the three variants of the Sony Xperia Tablet Z are available on the Sony online store. The Clove store is offering the 16GB LTE variant only.
According to the Clove, the tab is expected to go on sale from May 20 while Sony UK assures the retailing to start from mid of May this year. Unfortunately, there is no word yet on the wider international availability of the device and its pricing, but Sony will confirm the actual dates & prices soon.
