Verizon Wireless with the support of Motorola is now distributing Android 4.1.2 update to Droid RAZR HD and Droid RAZR Maxx HD models. Earlier, both the variants had Android 4.1, but now they will be upgraded to Android 4.1.2 with build 9.16.6.XT926.

This latest update was approved by Verizon last week with its availability set to the select group of testers, but now it is publicly available for download & install. This 96MB update brings some performance as well as connectivity based enhancements which enable the owners of the handsets to use their devices exclusively.

The upgrade adds additional security to the phones with the introduction of Google Security Patches to it. In addition, data roaming fix has been added to the pair as part of the update.

This update will also offer expandable and more functional home screen icons which when selected, display the wallpaper options.

On the connectivity front, users can notice the standard improvements in the Wi-Fi connectivity. Further notable enhancements can be seen while using USB i.e. users can easily detect connection or disconnection of USB with their phones.

Motorola’s cameras have been always cursed by their users, but now after upgrading their phones, the owners of Motorola DROID RAZR HD and Motorola DROID RAZR MAXX HD will experience improvements to the camera in areas of touch-to-focus, low-light performance and notifications.

With the update, boost to video streaming pixilation and media sync stability can be observed. Apart from these, improvements are made to the in-call audio routes to earpiece when connected to the handsets.

The update is sent out OTA and distributed gradually to the Motorola DROID RAZR HD and Motorola DROID RAZR MAXX owners. There are possibilities that users might not be able to update their phones to Android 4.1.2 right now. Don’t worry, the update notification will be pushed automatically to you during the next few weeks. Once the update is downloaded on your phones, then simply you have to install it. The installation process will take few minutes, which will disable your device in the meantime, but afterwards you can go ahead to experience the improvements on your handsets.
