Baltimore’s police department is the center of a new series coming to HBO Max this week.
“We Own This City” premieres on HBO Max on Monday, April 25. The limited series, based on a true story, documents how the police department approached arrests and the Gun Trace Task Force. The program examines the corruption that went into arrests and charges against otherwise innocent people.
According to HBO, the series acknowledges the “moral collapse that befell an American city in which the policies of drug prohibition and mass arrest were championed at the expense of actual police work.”
The series was created by creators of “The Wire” and “The Deuce,” David Simon and George Pelecanos. The cast includes Jon Bernthal, Josh Charles, Wunmi Mosaku and Jamie Hector. The premise of “We Own This City” is based on a book by Baltimore Sun reporter Justin Fenton.
You can watch it on HBO Max ($14.99/month). With HBO Max you can stream all of HBO, plus your favorite series like “South Park” and “Friends,” as well as blockbuster movies and Max Originals.
