At CES 2015 in Las Vegas, Asus unveiled its second-gen of Zenfone. Featuring a sleek and modern design, the Zenfone 2 is first in its class to pack 4GB of RAM.
The new Zenfone has a brilliant 5.5-inch Full HD IPS display (403 ppi) protected by the Corning Gorilla Glass 3. In addition, Asus TruVivid technology improves display’s performance by offering bright and vibrant colors.
The Asus Zenfone 2 is powered by 2.3 GHz 64-bit Intel Atom processor Z3580 and 4GB of main memory. The combo of 64-bit Intel chipset and the 4 gigs of memory offer up to 7x better performance in gaming than its predecessor, according to the company.
For photography enthusiasts, Asus has also taken care of its camera sensors. The phone now has 13-megapixel rear camera with f/2.0 aperture and 5-element lens. Now you can capture well-exposed photos with HDR mode that lets you make great shots even in low light. Additionally, the selfie camera is also equipped with 5MP wide-angle sensor that seems to be aligned with other products in the same category.
The Zenfone 2 measures 152.5 x 77.2 x 10.9 ~ 3.9 mm (edges) and weighs 170 grams. There are three storage options available i.e. 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB, and it is also expandable via microSD card up to 64GB. Moreover, the phone has 4G connectivity, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, NFC and Dual SIM support.
The Android phone packs a 3000 mAh lithium-polymer battery, providing an excellent autonomy, while its fast charging technology allows you charge the phone from 0 to 60% in just 39 minutes. Software-wise, the handset runs Android 5.0 Lollipop out-of-the-box with renewed ZenUI that includes an array of dedicated apps.
The Asus Zenfone 2 will go on sale sometime March 2015, for a starting price of $199, and will be available in black osmium, sheer gold, glacier gray, glamor red and ceramic white.
