There have been rumors circulating about the Instagram app for Windows Phone for several months now. Microsoft even teased users with a fake Instagram app on April 1st, but now we have received the green signal for the Instagram’s arrival on Windows Phone. Nokia Sverige (Nokia Sweden) has published a post on Facebook in which it references the imminent arrival of Instagram on Microsoft’s mobile platform.

Nokia Sverige replied to a user questioning information on the arrival of the Instagram on the Nokia Lumia 920

Instagram is “on the way”, but we cannot give an exact date at this time.

Clearly, the post does not imply absolute certainty that the app is coming on Windows Phone platform, but the probability is quite high. In any case, it will be certainly exclusive for owners of a Nokia Lumia, at least for a certain period of time.

Windows Phone was announced in 2010 at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona and officially launched in October of the same year. Currently there are about 150,000 apps on Windows Phone store, but after more than two years of its debut, the platform is still missing some top quality apps available in iOS and Android.

Nokia has repeatedly urged the Instagram to release the app for Windows Phone. The Finnish mobile manufacturer has also developed #2InstaWithLove to show the number of Instagram fans who are using Nokia Lumia devices.
