Acer has revealed yet another hybrid of laptop and desktop – the Acer Aspire R7. The company has put in a lot of efforts in this new hybrid device which can be used as a normal desktop computer and as a laptop.

Even though Acer has come up with a lot of hybrid computers in the past, the Acer Aspire R7 seems to be a bit more cool and different. The device can be used as a desktop computer, laptop and as a tablet.

Acer said that this new 15.6-inch Windows 8 PB has a special hinge called Ezel. This new hinge allows users to move the touchscreen display up and back from the keyboard, allowing the laptop to look more like an all-in-one PC rather than a standard notebook.

Ezel also allows you to move the display around in such a way that you can show the screen to someone else while you are typing on the keyboard (wonder why someone would want to do that). Last but not the least, the display on the Acer Aspire R7 can also flip and go on top of the keyboard to have it act like a large tablet.

Now coming to the interesting part – specs, the Acer Aspire R7 is not just any other computer. It has a very good hardware configuration and seems to be definitely worth the money. The device has a 15.6-inch touchscreen display and runs on Windows 8 operating system. It is powered by an Intel Core i5 processor and has 6 GB of RAM. As far as the storage is concerned, you get a 500GB hard drive with a 24 GB SSD.

Other important features include a backlit keyboard, Dolby Home Theater v4 and four 8-watt speakers. And if you are planning to buy one, then you can get one starting from the 17th of May when the Acer Aspire R7 will be available for a price of $999. You can also pre-order one at and get a free downloadable copy of the PC port of the latest Star Trek game.
