BlackBerry Q5 announced at BB Live, availability set for select region


BlackBerry has officially announced a new smartphone that runs on BlackBerry 10 operating system – the BlackBerry Q5. As the name suggests, the BlackBerry Q5 is similar to the Blackberry Q10 and can be considered to be a low powered version of the Q10. The BlackBerry Q5 is the latest addition to Blackberry’s new series of smartphones that run on BlackBerry 10 OS. The BlackBerry Q5 will join the Q10 and Z10.

Even though BlackBerry Q5 will not be as powerful as BlackBerry Q10, the device will definitely attract a lot of consumers who are looking for a low budget smartphone that will give them the BlackBerry 10 experience. The BlackBerry Q5 has a physical qwerty keypad and also looks similar to the BlackBerry Q10. As of now, the Blackberry Q5 will be available in select markets only.
BlackBerry CEO, Thorsten Heins revealed the device onstage at the BlackBerry Live 2013 annual conference. And in a recent press release, this is what Thorsten had to say on the new BlackBerry Q5 smartphone:

“BlackBerry is excited to bring the new BlackBerry Q5 smartphone to our customers in selected markets around world,” said Thorsten Heins, President and CEO of BlackBerry. “The BlackBerry Q5 gives you the best of everything with its cutting-edge BlackBerry 10 functionality and a physical QWERTY keyboard. It is for youthful fans that are passionate, confident and bold, and it makes it easy for them to have fun, create, share and stay connected.”

The BB Q5 has a 3.1-inch touchscreen display, physical qwerty keypad and a high performance camera. There is no other information available about the tech specs of this device. And as far as the availability and pricing is concerned, the new BlackBerry Q5 smartphone will be available in selected markets in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia and Latin America from the month of July. There is no information available about the pricing as of now, but we will soon have an update for that as well as the complete list of specs.
