New Windows 10 Mobile Insider Preview build will be available to fast ring Insiders this week, which was earlier delayed because of a memory corruption bug.
Microsoft will likely be rolling out a new Windows 10 Mobile Insider Preview build this week, according to Windows Insider head Gabriel Aul. He earlier hinted that build 10599 was being tested internally within the company, though we’re not sure whether it’ll be the same version that will be rolled out to users this week. There’s also a possibility that the company might have prepped an entirely new build for testers.
The Windows maker did confirm that new Windows 10 builds will be rolled out for Insiders after its October 6 event, though the discovery of some bugs held back the company from releasing the build.
The cause of delay was memory corruption bug, according to Aul, who confirmed via a number of tweets.
“We have a Mobile build in final ring, but we’ve been chasing a challenging bug on PC so need time there. Telemetry on the mobile build in the MS ring had too high a crash rate, so we’re taking a couple of key fixes and re-spinning. We caught a memory corruption bug in the WU service, so need to fix that first,” he explained.
Talking about Windows 10 Mobile, we’re expecting new builds for phones coming out at a much faster rate. With the official release date planned for December, Windows 10 Mobile is said to be feature-complete, implying that Microsoft has only to take care bug-fixes and performance improvements. Hence, we can expect the next build to be very close to an RTM build, with similar features and performance.
Microsoft recently announced its latest flagship duo – the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL, which will come pre-loaded with the latest Windows 10 Mobile. In addition, the company also announced via responding to user comments on Facebook that the OS will be making its way to other Lumia devices as well in December.
Lumia devices that’ll be upgraded Windows 10 Mobile in December include the Lumia 430, Lumia 435, Lumia 535, Lumia 540, Lumia 635, Lumia 640 and 640 XL, Lumia 735, Lumia 830 and Lumia 930. Though surprisingly, past flagships that include the Lumia 1020 and Lumia 1520 haven’t been included in the list scheduled to get the Windows 10 upgrade.
To be eligible for the update, users need the Lumia Denim update (version 8.10.14219.341, or higher) along with 8GB of internal memory to install it.
