Microsoft and Xiaomi announced back in June that the two are working on a custom Windows 10 Mobile ROM for the Xiaomi Mi 4. The first beta of the customized ROM was initially made available to testers, while just last month it was revealed that the final product is almost ready for general availability.
Now new reports have emerged which suggest that Xiaomi’s Windows 10 project is almost ready to be rolled out to the general public. According to a post by Xiaomi co-founder Bin Lin, the official rollout of the Windows 10 Mobile ROM for Mi 4 LTE has been scheduled for December 3. He posted an image on a Chinese social network which shows a Mi 4 smartphone running Windows Mobile.
It’s worth pointing out that Windows 10 Mobile ROM will initially be available only for the LTE variant of the handset, though there’s no confirmation whether the 3G/WCDMA model will also be supported in the future.
Xiaomi Mi 4 comes with an impressive set of specs that include a Snapdragon 801 processor, 3GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage along with a 13MP primary camera and a 3080 mAh battery. Along with the Xiaomi Mi 4, the recently announced Mi Pad 2 will also come in both Android and Windows 10 versions suggesting Xiaomi’s increasing interest in the latest OS.
