In November, Microsoft launched two high-end Lumia phones. They are the Lumia 950 and the Lumia 950XL, which were among the first to ship with Windows 10 Mobile. Now, Microsoft has announced a new offer giving 950 and 950 XL users a free one-year subscription to the Office 365 productivity apps.

Note that the offer is limited to the U.K., USA, Sweden, France, Denmark, Finland and Norway. In addition, those in the USA must have purchased the device between November 20 to June 30, 2016. However, the terms and conditions of this Office 365 offer might vary slightly between countries. It is a limited offer that lasts until July 30, 2016.

To claim your free subscription, users must first install the Lumia Offers app on their Lumia 950 or Lumia 950XL. That will provide details on all the offers available to you, which might just be the Office 365 Personal. From the list, you can select the 1-year Office 365, and then you’ll need to enter your email details. Tap the Continue option to get some further instructions.

Then you should get an email telling you that you can claim the, “Office 365 Personal subscription for 1 PC/Mac, 1 tablet and 1 smartphone, a $69.99 value, while supplies last.” So that means you can add the Office 365 suite to Mac or Windows laptops, tablet or phone. In addition, the offer also gives you 1 TB of OneDrive cloud storage.

However, those who already have an Office 365 Home subscription should not claim this offer. Note what the store page states: “Office 365 Personal can only be used on 1 PC or Mac and 1 tablet, and cannot be shared. You’re sharing your current Office subscription. To continue, go to your account page and remove anyone you shared with, and deactivate Office on all but 1 PC or Mac and 1 tablet. After that, please start your purchase again.”

So this sounds like a good offer from Microsoft that is comparable to one it did for the Lumia 640 and Lumia 640 XL. With the Office 365 subscription, you’ll then be able to run handy apps such as Excel, Word, OneNote, and PowerPoint.
