Those looking to buy the latest iPhone SE or the Galaxy S7 have one good reason to do so from Walmart, a $100 and $150 discount to avail of on the latest Apple and Samsung devices respectively.
Of course, promotions such as these don’t come without caveats of their own, and the latest from Walmart is no exceptions. So here they are – any device bought will have to conform to an instalment plan from Verizon, AT&T or Sprint. Further, the discounted amount won’t be there for the taking right away. Instead, it will be adjusted with the user’s monthly bills during the entire term of the instalment period. The scheme runs for three months, till the end of June.
CNN Money reports, “Walmart is working with AT&T (), Verizon ( ) & Sprint ( ) on the deal, so customers will see the discounts through their bills. Unfortunately, T-Mobile ( ) customers won’t be able to take advantage of the promotion. The deal is also not available for online purchases.”
Walmart has further clarified the $100 discount applies to the iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6S, and iPhone 6S Plus besides the latest iPhone SE. The deal also sweetens the iPhone SE package all the more considering that it already is targeted at the mid-range segment. Apple had earlier launched the iPhone SE with a starting price tag of $399.
The iPhone SE also packs quite a mean punch which quite belies its size or price tag. For hidden under its diminutive exterior – read 4-inch size – is the latest A9 chip and the M9 motion coprocessor that supports ‘Hey Siri’ and Apple Pay functionality. Then there is also the advanced 12MP iSight rear camera that supports Live Photos all of which makes the SE variant to have almost the same looks and feel of the iPhone 5s while showing the performance and mannerisms of the latest gen iPhones.
Those who swear by Android can also look forward to an even better $150 discount on all of Samsung devices which includes the latest Galaxy S7 range as well.
There is also the ‘Buy one get one free’ plan to avail of from AT&T where one is entitled to a free iPhone 6s with buyers paying for just one. That entails users agreeing to add a second line as per the carrier’s Next plan while the $650 will be paid back in bill credit over the 30 months instalment period.
