New High-End iMac to Come in Multiple Colors – MacRumors

Apple’s highly anticipated 27-inch iMac with Apple silicon will be available in multiple colors, according to recent reports.

A recent report from DigiTimes claimed that Apple will offer the 27-inch ‌iMac‌ in various color options, but it is unclear if the company will use the same color scheme as the 24-inch ‌iMac‌. Earlier this year, Twitter leaker @dylandkt said that the new 27-inch ‌iMac‌ will feature a similar design to the 24-inch ‌iMac‌ that launched in early 2021, but with a darker color scheme and black bezels to differentiate it as a more professional machine, similar to the now-discontinued ‌iMac‌ Pro.
Multiple reports have indicated that the new high-end ‌iMac‌ will revive this title and be called the “‌iMac‌ Pro,” which could help Apple to simplify its naming strategy and differentiate it from the 24-inch ‌iMac‌ with the M1 chip.
If this new ‌iMac‌ model takes on the “Pro” moniker as some rumors have suggested, it could simply be offered in Space Gray and Silver like the MacBook Pro and iPad Pro. The 24-inch ‌iMac‌ is not offered in Space Gray or any darker shades, so it seems plausible that the high-end line could get more mature color options. Apple’s color options have been a source of contention for some users, so the launch of the 27-inch ‌iMac‌ could solidify Apple’s color plans going forward.
Contrary to earlier rumors that suggested the new ‌iMac‌ could have a larger display, display analyst Ross Young said that the ‌iMac‌ would retain the same 27-inch display size but use a mini-LED panel with ProMotion for refresh rates up to 120Hz, just like the latest high-end MacBook Pro models.
The upcoming Apple silicon-powered ‌”‌iMac‌‌ Pro” is expected to launch in the spring of 2022. It will replace the current Intel-based 27-inch ‌‌iMac‌‌, one of the last Mac models to still use Intel processors. The machine is expected to feature a new, slim design, extra ports, options for the M1 Pro and M1 Max chips, and more, all for an approximate cost of at least $2,000.
