The release of the iPhone 14 and the iPhone 14 Pro has certainly been exciting. The latest iPhones have introduced plenty of new features exclusive to the hardware, such as emergency satellite connection and the iPhone 14 Pro’s dynamic island.
While the iPhone 14 Pro is arguably Apple’s most impressive phone to date, plenty of early adopters have encountered one major issue with it: its always-on display. The idea of an always-on display isn’t anything new for the world of smartphones, but it’s a first for Apple. So far, it’s been a bit divisive.
iPhone 14 Pro or iPhone 14 Pro Max
The biggest complaint from iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max owners is that it unnecessarily drains the battery life of their devices. Luckily, it’s pretty simple to turn off if you don’t want to constantly be distracted by your phone, want to keep a charge for as long as possible, or simply just want it off.
Regardless of which version you have, the iPhone 14 Pro or the iPhone 14 Pro Max, the steps for turning off the always-on display are the same. The always-on display will be turned on by default when you first set up your phone, so if you want to turn it off, you can do so as soon as you’re able to unlock your device.
Step 1: Find the Settings app on your iPhone 14 Pro or iPhone 14 Pro Max and open it.
Step 2: Select Display & Brightness from the list of settings options.
Step 3: Scroll down to the bottom of the page.
Step 4: Switch the toggle next to Always On so that it’s off.
With that, your iPhone 14 Pro or iPhone 14 Pro Max will lock and go dark as if it were any other iPhone. If you want to reactivate the always-on display again, simply head to the Settings app and switch the toggle over once more.
For another year, Google’s next-gen phones are out in the wild months ahead of their grand reveal at a fancy event. Just a day ago, the Pixel 8 Pro was unceremoniously leaked, and now, the standard Pixel 8 has also received the same treatment. OnLeaks and MySmartPrice have shared reported renders and a 360-degree video depicting the upcoming Google phone from all angles.
The design changes are subtle, but easy on the eyes. Just like the Pixel 8 Pro, the corners are once again more rounded on the Pixel 8. The frame is metallic, and there’s a horizontal camera strip at the back with a metallic luster on top. Akin to the Pixel 7, we get two cameras on the Pixel 8, sitting in a pill-shaped cutout.
Another small aesthetic tweak is the earpiece grill at the top, which is now more prominent than what we saw on the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro. If the current-gen Pixels are any indication, the Pixel 8 is going to offer an excellent in-hand feel. Talking about in-hand feel, though, it appears that Google is once again pandering to the small phone loyalists.
Google’s annual developer conference, Google I/O, kicks off on May 10. Don’t let the words “developer conference” put you off, though, as Google I/O is one of the biggest and most exciting shows of the year.
We’ve already covered what we expect to see at Google I/O 2023, and that list includes the Pixel 7a, Android 14, and even a Google Pixel Fold. But although those are all things we’re really looking forward to and expecting to see, there are a number of reveals we’d also love to happen … but are extremely unlikely to appear on the grand stage.
The iPhone 12 Pro is the powerful flagship of 2020’s iPhone 12 range. With a 6.1-inch display, a powerful A14 Bionic processor, and an upgraded camera, the iPhone 12 Pro is a reasonably sized iPhone for users who want an iPhone that’s reasonably priced, but still relevant in 2023.
Apple’s Ceramic Shield claims to protect iPhones better than ever before, but if we were you, we’d still slap a case on our iPhone. Cases come in a range of forms, and choosing the right one for you is a matter of deciding what you need it for. We’ve checked the biggest case makers, grabbed some of their best cases, and explained what’s good (and not so good) about each of them. Here are the best iPhone 12 Pro cases you can buy in 2023.
