By Sneha Saha: Ahead of the launch of the iPhone 14, old iPhone models are selling for lower prices in India. There are discount offers on the iPhone 13 as well, but if that’s out of your budget, there are offers available on the iPhone 12 and also the iPhone 11, which is now nearly 3 years old. Even though the deal available on the iPhone 11 seems tempting, the question remains is it worth spending on this old iPhone model?
Before understanding whether it is worth buying the iPhone 11 or not, let’s take a closer look at the deal. On various platforms, including Croma, Imagine, Amazon, and Flipkart, the iPhone 11 64GB model is available for around Rs 45,000. The 128GB, on the other hand, is available for around Rs 50,000. Compared to the official retail prices, the discount offer may seem mouth-watering, but it is not really worth it, and that’s because you can spend a few extra thousand and get the iPhone 12, which is currently available for around Rs 53,000.
The obvious reason for not opting for the iPhone 11 is the fact that it is quite old now and offers weaker performance when compared to the iPhone 12. The camera and battery performance are also not as good as the recent models, of course. With the iPhone 11, you will also need to settle for an older, curvy design. The latest iPhones, including the iPhone 12 and the iPhone 13 offer a boxy-like design and a much-improved camera, battery, and overall performance.
Considering the specifications and all other offerings, it makes sense to spend a few extra thousand and get the iPhone 12 instead. Moreover, some media reports suggest that the iPhone 11 will be discontinued after the launch of the iPhone 14 later this year. This also hints that Apple may consider stopping iOS updates for this old iPhone model 2 3 years from now.
So, if you are an existing iPhone user and want to upgrade from an iPhone 7 or 8 to one of the latest models, it makes sense to go for the iPhone 12. However, someone looking to switch to an iOS ecosystem from Android can get an iPhone 11 if they are fine upgrading their phone 3 years down the line.
Currently, the iPhone that one should get is the iPhone 13, which is also available at a lower price across various platforms. But if the budget is low, the iPhone 12 also makes for quite a good deal. The iPhone 12 for around Rs 53,000 offers the latest design, faster performance, a great pair of cameras and also decent battery life. If you can wait for the iPhone 14 launch, the prices of old iPhones will definitely drop. Apple hasn't confirmed the launch of the iPhone 14 yet but rumours suggest it will happen sometime in September.
