HTC publically confirmed that some current phones will receive updates which will include features of the shiny new Sense 5, when one of its Israeli user asked question about the availability of upgrades to the HTC One X, on the HTC’s Facebook Page. So far, Sense 5 has been seen only on the HTC One smartphone, but the current affirmation by the company has revealed that this upgrade will also reach on the platforms of its high-end devices including HTC One X, X+, S and HTC Butterfly.
HTC stated on its Facebook Page:
HTC will be offering upgrades to some of its existing devices in the next few months, including global variants of HTC One X, One X+, One S and the HTC Butterfly. Also, note that some features enabled by the new HTC One hardware will not be available in the software updates.
The key features of this shiny minimalistic new HTC Sense 5.0 interface for its Android handset comprise of HTC BlinkFeed, Simple layout, Zoe Camera, Sync Manager and integration to TV control.
The company also notified its users that not all the features of Sense 5 will be added to these devices. The hardware restrictions in the earlier devices seems to be the reason behind this partial feature integrated upgrade. It is anticipated that the exclusive HTC Zoe can be excluded from this upgrade due to high hardware demands which only HTC One is able to support in the current scenario.
The company did not hint anything about the arrival of the Sense 5.0 upgrade to other high-end phones like HTC Droid DNA and EVO 4G LTE. It is speculated that all the devices mentioned above are international models, and HTC has not yet planned any upgrade for the carrier specific variants of these or other devices. Moreover, HTC said that the updates will be available to users of aforementioned devices in the upcoming months.
