Instagram’s co-founder and CEO Kevin Systrom has introduced the ability to shoot videos with new Instagram Video feature at the Facebook headquarter in Menlo Park. Kevin Systrom stated on the stage “It’s everything we know and love about Instagram, but it moves.”
The new Instagram Video
Instagram Video is available for iOS and Android users. It allows them to shoot a 15 second video with the possibility of different takes, make slight edit and ability to choose a cover frame for the displays. It also includes 13 new filters and an amazing video stabilizer called Cinema.
The working of the application is very intuitive, thanks to the identical user interface except for the new video button. You will see everything in your feed and have the same typical sharing options.
No to Google Glass and Tags
Systrom stated during the conference that the application does not work on Google Glass. It is also not possible to tag people in the videos as in the images. The technology is very complicated but it is not excluded completely, and the company will consider it for the future.
Reaction to a growing market
Adding videos to Instagram was a necessary step for the company as many applications had come forward in the past year such as Vine, a video sharing app which was acquired by Twitter last year. In addition to raise millions of users, these video-sharing services are quickly becoming an obsession among them.
Indeed, Instagram Video would allow Facebook to stand against Twitter with its simplicity, beauty and community. Instagram already has 130 million users who have posted and shared 16 billion photos since its launch in late 2010.
