LG Judy tipped to be the successor to G6, will likely sport a completely new design

LG had earlier in January made it known they won’t be sticking to a set timeline for launching its flagship phones. That does seem to be perfectly in line with a new rumor claiming the South Korean company might have a new high-end phone ready for launch towards June. That all of it is being propagated by Evan Blass also makes it more than just a passing rumor.

Codenamed Judy, the G6 successor is said to sport a completely new design theme that would make it completely different than any of its current offerings. However, there is no word yet as to how that is likely to turn out. There is already information about domestic rival Samsung readying a bendable smartphone later in the year. Maybe LG too has something of that sort up its sleeve.

The other aspect of the phone that has come to the fore matches any high-end phone offerings for 2018. Those include Snapdragon 845 for the processor, working in tandem with a 4 GB RAM along with 64 GB of storage. There is going to be a dual camera setup at the rear as well.

The rest of the specs that we know of right now include stereo speakers along with wireless charging. There is going to be IP68 waterproof rating, dust and impact resistance as well, all of which are pretty much in line with any flagship phone offering.

The display is going to be all of the 6.1-inches having an aspect ratio of 18:9. Blass is also claiming the use of a new ‘MLCD+’ display technology which is believed to allow for considerably higher levels of brightness without draining the battery. Specifically, the display is likely to be capable of 800-nits of brightness while consuming about the same charge as conventional IPS LCD screens.

LG is also said to have ditched the ‘G’ nomenclature for its flagship phones. As such, the successor to the current top-end G6 might not be named ‘G7’ after all. It also isn’t a surety it would be named Judy, which is just a codename at the moment.

LG meanwhile is also in the process of launching the successor to the more recent V30. And it’s going to happen at the fast approaching MWC event itself. Maybe we might have some more details about Judy during the event as well, if not a prototype or anything of that sort.
