Though Samsung Galaxy S4 is the company’s latest flagship smartphone, the Korean mobile manufacturer certainly has not forgotten its 2012 performer – the Galaxy S3. According to the fresh reports, Samsung is keenly interested in updating its Galaxy S3 smartphone with the latest software updates as soon as possible. The Galaxy S3 owners worldwide are also very anxious about this update.

If you own a Galaxy S3 device, but long for Android 4.2.2, then here is good news for you. SamMobile has leaked an early firmware build of Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean for the Galaxy S3. The eager consumers of Galaxy S3 can download the test firmware ahead of the official release which is scheduled to rollout sometime during Q3 2013. It looks like this leak is a kind of pre-release of the Samsung Galaxy S3 Android 4.2.2 update which will offer the users an idea about the upcoming update and what to expect from it.

According to SamMobile, the Android 4.2.2 is still under testing phase by Samsung. This update is highly anticipated for bringing various new enhancements to Galaxy S3 such as daydream, active notifications, driving mode, new additions in Notification Center, white background gallery Mode which represents 3D display, full screen Samsung apps, new gestures, and new smart switch widget.

Apart from these improvements, the update will also deliver some of the Samsung Galaxy S4’s custom software features like new S-Voice & Lockscreen, entirely revamped UI settings with TouchWiz interface, new Screen modes (Adapt Display and Professional Photo), and addition of Voice controls. It is still unclear whether the Galaxy S4 camera features will be ported to S3 in Android 4.2.2 or later in Android 4.3, so we have to wait until the update gets officially released in July/ August this year.

SamMobile has also shared a video presenting the Android 4.2.2 update on Samsung Galaxy S3 which you can check below.

It should be noted here that since this leak is only a test build, so there can be minor bugs, but you don’t have to panic at all. SamMobile has assured that this build is just like any official firmware which doesn’t increase the binary counter nor changes the system state. Hence, the anxious owners of Galaxy S3 can download the firmware file from SamMobile and can even check out flashing instructions to get started with this update easily.
