Sony has officially unveiled the Sony Smartwatch 2 (SW2), the new smart watch from the company that will help you to easily access various features on your smartphone without having to reach for it every time.

The Sony Smartwatch 2 is a smart device that sports a 1.6-inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 220×176 pixels. The watch is made up of an aluminum body and it works with Sony Xperia devices and other Android smartphones, provided that they are running on Android 4.0 or higher. If you are an Apple consumer, you won’t be able to use Sony Smartwatch 2 because it is not compatible with the iPhone or the iPad.

The Sony Smartwatch 2 will let you check your calls, messages, emails and notifications without having to reach out for your phone. And if you thought that your smartphone has a lot of application, you will be surprised to know that the Sony Smartwatch 2 has over 200 applications. Sony is also providing an open API, which can be used by developers to make their own apps as well.

And coming to one of the most interesting features of the Sony Smartwatch 2, the device has an IP57 certification, which means that it is water resistant just like the Sony Xperia Z Ultra that was recently unveiled by Sony. So it is a perfect accessory to be used along with your Xperia device. In order to get your hands on this watch, you will have to wait till September for the watch to be available in the market.
