Skype 4.0 for Android has very similar layout to the Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 Skype apps, with extensive use of white and blue color in Modern style.
Skype has announced a new version of its app for the Google’s mobile operating system Android. The app is already installed on over 100 million smartphones and tablets around the world. The company has completely redesigned the interface, simplifying and speeding up the use of the key features. Skype 4.0 for Android is more stable and responsive compared to the older version.
A few days ago, Skype announced its plans related to the mobile industry. One of the goals was to make the app more “consistent”, i.e. a design that differs as little as possible from one operating system to another. Skype 4.0 for Android has very similar layout to the one available for Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 with extensive use of white and blue color in Modern style.
The new motto is putting conversations first, so the user experience focuses on the conversations, all at the fingertips. At startup, it displays recent conversations, and you can tap or swipe to switch quickly to the Favorite tab or People (contacts). One touch on the avatar of a contact starts a chat session, a phone call or a video call.
The company has also achieved another objective with improved overall performance. The app has been built from scratch to ensure a lower loading time and increased readability.
At the moment, there is no information about the iOS version, but certainly it’s on the way and will bring the same beauty treatment.
