Along with the Nokia Lumia 1020, the Finnish manufacturer has also announced a new photo app called “Nokia Pro Camera” that allows you to take full advantage of the resolution and quality of the 41 megapixel camera integrated in the smartphone. The app offers all professional photography functionality, and it will not only be exclusive to the Nokia Lumia 1020, but it will also be released for the Lumia 920 and 925.
According to Marcus Olsson, head of the team that developed Nokia Pro Camera, the app represents the beginning of a revolution in creative photography on mobile phones, thanks to the availability of tools to create perfect picture quality, never seen before on smartphones. Nokia Pro Camera is the default app for the Lumia 1020 camera and offers various features that you can only find on professional products.
The app allows you to take two images at the same scene (dual capture), a full resolution (34 megapixel on 16:9 and 38 megapixel on 4:3 format) and a 5 megapixel. The user can perform the lossless digital zoom, reframing and image editing, thanks to the oversampling technology. Using an exposure time of 4 seconds (it is advisable to use a tripod), you can take pictures at night with light trails.
Instead of complex menus, Pro Camera has slider interface formed by overlapped semicircles and visual indicators to control all shooting parameters such as focus, ISO sensitivity (100 to 4,000), white balance, shutter speed (from 1/16000 to 4 seconds) and EV value. Of course, there are gestures such as swipe, two finger rotate and slide to zoom. Nokia Pro Camera would be made available for Nokia Lumia 920 and 925, as a part of Amber update expected later this month.
