Apple analyst Ming Chi-Kuo not only talked about the upcoming iPhone 13 series features in his latest research note, but also gave some predictions for the next year’s iPhone, tipped as iPhone 14. The report (via 9to5Mac) by Kuo for Apple supply chain investors, states that Apple iPhones may get a bold design change next year in the form of a “punch-hole display design”. This may be a radical change as the company has stuck with a long notch above the screen , ever since the iPhone X that came out in 2017. The ‘punch hole’ design may be similar to what we have seen in several Android smartphones now.
The ‘punch hole’ look is likely to come with an all screen design around it, giving more screen to body ratio than what you get now in iPhones. This might also tie-up with the rumour that iPhone 14 is expected to bump its front-facing camera with better autofocus capabilities. While a lot of the decision also depends on the yield, Kuo adds that this design may not be on all the iPhones. Only the high-end (Pro) models could get it in the second half of next year.

In addition, Kuo also talked about the iPhone SE 5G. As per his report, Apple is also planning to launch a new iPhone SE model in the first half of next year. It may also be the first entry-priced model to support 5G networks. Kuo predicts Apple will stick with current iPhone SE’s 4.7-inch panel. Nothing else was mentioned about the product.
It is worth mentioning that tipster Jon Prosser, in a recent video, confirmed that Apple might skip launching the ‘SE’ model this year. That’s because it’s gap might be fulfilled by the iPhone 13 Mini. He added that if Apple plans to launch an ‘SE’ iPhone this year, it might be called ‘SE Plus’. But since we haven’t heard anything about the SE model this year in leaks, rumours and via analysts, it is difficult to believe that the device will launch in 2021.
