From Tom Holland’s riveting thriller to a lovely family drama, here are the best TV series coming to Apple TV+ in June 2023.
While Apple TV+ is not well-known for producing ground-breaking films, it has a stellar reputation in television production, as evidenced by previous and present successes such as Ted Lasso, See, Shrinking, Severance, and Prehistoric Planet. While not as extensive as Netflix, which continuously provides viewers with a wealth of different movies and TV seasons, Apple TV+ likewise offers some amazing shows each month.
Just as we saw the debut of some remarkable TV series in May, such as Silo, High Desert, and City on Fire, we have shows of a completely different caliber this month. Whether it's a mind-boggling thriller starring Tom Holland from Spider-Man: No Way Home or a highly anticipated sequel to a beautiful family drama, the streaming service's June slate is fascinating. So, here are the best TV series coming to Apple TV+ in June 2023.
The Crowded Room is probably the most anticipated series on Apple TV+ this June, owing to the fact that it casts Tom Holland in a role that he has not previously seen. The new limited series, written by Academy Award winner Akiva Goldsman and executive produced by Tom Holland, will consist of ten episodes.
The story begins in 1979 when a man named Danny Sulivan finds himself in the midst of a murder and is quickly arrested by the police to investigate his involvement. When detective Rya Goodwin tries to find the true perpetrator of the crime through Danny, she learns about his unusual past, which puts her in an even more difficult situation as she feels Danny might be the true culprit.
Apple TV+ has returned once more to bring us the delightful children's show based on Charles M. Schulz's Peanuts comic strip. The previous season ended in August 2022, leaving viewers wanting more. However, a Christmas special was released later that year in December 2022. Like the previous two, the third season will consist of three seven-minute-long shorts, each with its own distinct story.
The series follows Snoopy, the world's most beloved dog, and his closest friend Woodstock as they embark on new daily adventures. While Snoopy appears to be a normal dog who loves bones and head pats, he knows no bounds and is unafraid of danger. The animated series, which will premiere on Apple TV+ on June 9, will continue the adventures in new and exciting ways.
Lovely Little Farm is an exciting Kids & Family series created by BAFTA Award winners Maddy Darrall, Billy Macqueen, and Catherine Williams. With the first season already premiering in June 2022, many viewers consider it one of the best modern children's television shows. Given that the series is also visually and narratively appealing, it can be appreciated by both adults and children.
The following is the Apple TV+'s description of the plot:
"Lovely Little Farm" follows sisters Jill and Jacky as they love and nurture all the animals on their farm nestled in lavender fields. Being a young farmer isn't easy, but every day brings these sisters adventure and a chance to grow. The live-action animated hybrid uses the latest computer-generated technology, working with Industrial Light and Magic, to bring the series to life.
Swagger, a sports drama series inspired by NBA superstar Kevin Durant and his life experiences as a basketball player, will present sports fans with a one-of-a-kind experience. Even for non-basketball enthusiasts, the show proved very interesting as it captured the superstar's interpersonal drama and hardships.
While the first season focused on the world of elite youth basketball and its challenges, the second season will go further into the championships and tell more about the famous NBA star. Many original cast members are back for season two, including O'Shea Jackson Jr., Shinele Azoroh, Isaiah Hill, Caleel Harris, and Quvenzhane Wallis. Swagger season 2 premieres on Apple TV+ on June 23.
Hijack is a high-octane thriller created by George Kay (Lupin and Killing Eve) and Jim Field Smith (Criminal and Truth Seekers), featuring Emmy Award nominee Idris Elba (Luther). Due to the actor's fame and thanks to its distinctive premise, Hijack has become one of the most anticipated series for the month, alongside The Crowded Room. The following is how Apple TV+ describes its plot:
Told in real-time, "Hijack" is a tense thriller that follows the journey of a hijacked plane as it makes its way to London over a seven-hour flight, and authorities on the ground scramble for answers. Elba will star as Sam Nelson, an accomplished negotiator in the business world who needs to step up and use all his guile to try and save the lives of the passengers — but his high-risk strategy could be his undoing. Panjabi will play the role of Zahra Gahfoor, a counterterrorism officer who is on the ground when the plane is hijacked and becomes part of the investigation. In addition to Elba and Panjabi, the series stars Christine Adams, Max Beesley, Eve Myles, Neil Maskell, Jasper Britton, Harry Michell, Aimée Kelly, Mohamed Elsandel and Ben Miles.
