Amazon has released the complete schedule of all the TV shows and films it’s going to be adding to Prime Video (US) and its associated streaming platforms during the month of July 2023. And it’s fair to say subscribers to Amazon Prime et al have a particularly diverse range of new stuff to fill the long summer evenings with.
On the TV show front, the three main new highlights are the fourth (and final) season of Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan, new horror ‘dramedy’ series The Horror Of Dolores Roach, and the second season of critically acclaimed show Good Omens.
Jack Ryan needs no introduction, of course; the character has been entertaining readers, movie goers and, more recently, Amazon Prime Video viewers for years. The latest season of Amazon’s home-grown Clancy show finds Ryan (played by A Quiet Place’s John Krasinski) undertaking what Amazon describes as ‘his most dangerous mission yet’ (aren’t they always?) as he tries to get to the bottom of a series of suspicious black ops that point to internal corruption within the CIA. This new show has actually kicked Prime Video’s July off early, by dropping today, June 30th.
Good Omens returns to Amazon Prime Video for a second season.
The Horror Of Dolores Roach tells the tale of a woman who gets out of prison after a lengthy unjust sentence and manages to set up a business as a masseuse in the basement of an old stoner friend’s shop, but finds herself driven to ‘extreme’ practices to make ends meet.
The debut season of The Horror Of Dolores Roach drops on Prime Video on July 6 at 8pm ET.
The second season of Good Omens, which is based, of course, on the best-selling novel by fantasy genii Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman, arrives on Prime Video on July 28, and continues to follow the adventures of a fussy angel and a fast-living demon after the Archangel Gabriel turns up at the angel’s book shop with no memory of who he is or how he got there.
Another show returning to Prime Video for a second season in July (from July 14 to be precise) is The Summer I Turned Pretty. This time we see Belly facing new dramas with rival suitors, a returning cancer diagnosis, and a threat to a friend’s home that the gang need to rally together to fight.

If you’re signed up to Amazon’s Freeview Original channel, meanwhile, July 21 marks the arrival of season two of Almost Paradise, in which DEA Agent Alex Walker tries but fails to enjoy a peaceful retirement.
On the movie front, Amazon’s press info on its July additions focuses on the arrival to rent or buy of Fast X on Prime Video – even though, actually, this latest instalment of the Fast And Furious series actually arrived on the streaming platform on June 16!
Film highlights arriving within an Amazon Prime Video subscription in July are: Classic Stephen King adaption The Shawshank Redemption (July 1, included in a Prime Video subscription); Peter Weir’s outstanding ‘reality TV’ satire The Truman Show (July 1, included in a Prime Video Subscription); Brian De Palma’s powerful dramatisation of Elliott Ness’s take down of Al Capone, The Untouchables (July 1, included in a Prime Video subscription); 1969’s True Grit, which gave John Wayne his only Oscar (July 1, included in a Prime subscription); the surprisingly excellent 2018 remake of A Star Is Born (July 1, included in a Prime subscription); Ridley Scott’s epic Gladiator (July 1, included in a Prime subscription); Mel Gibson’s intense war movie Hacksaw Ridge (July 1, included in a Prime subscription); excellent Bob Odenkirk action movie Nobody (July 1, Freevee Movies); all three Men In Black films (July 1, included in a Prime subscription); Scott Pilgrim Vs The World (Freevee Movies, July 1); The Revenant (July 1 Freevee Movies); The Iron Giant (July 1, included in a Prime subscription); Scarface (July 1, included in a Prime subscription); Steven Spielberg’s Saving Private Ryan (July 1, included in a Prime subscription); and the epic Dances With Wolves (July 31, Prime Video).
My daughter also wanted me to add that the Twilight films are coming to Freevee on July 17, but obviously I’m too professional for that.
