At Computex last June, Asus showcased one of the coolest tablet plus all-in-one combo it had ever made – the Asus Transformer AiO. The Transformer AiO is an 18.4-inch tablet plus all-in-one which runs Windows 8 and Android operating system.
There have been a lot of speculations about what this device will have under the hood and how will it be priced. Well the good news is, finally Asus has given out the specs, features, release date and price tag for the Transformer AiO.
If you look at the Transformer AiO with rookie eyes, all you will see is a regular Windows 8 all-in-one. The system runs on Windows 8 and is powered either by a Core i5 or Core i7 processor, up to 8 GB of RAM and a 2 GB Nvidia GeForce GT 730M dedicated graphics card. The device also has an 18.4-inch 1080p capacitive touchscreen display and up to 2 TB of storage.
The cool part is that if you remove the display from its dock, the computer now turns into a powerful tablet which runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system. This tablet is no ordinary tablet because it is powered by a Tegra 3 processor, 2 GB of RAM and has 32 GB of storage space. The tablet weighs about 5.2 pounds. And if you think that this concept is out of the ordinary, then I think you are not so wrong!
The Asus Transformer AiO is a one of a kind system which gets its name because of the system’s ability to actually transform from one machine to another. You get to run two totally different operating systems on two totally different hardware configurations. The ability to choose between Windows and Android operating system is really special, and a lot of consumers would agree with me on this point.
Asus will be launching the Transformer AiO in the US this spring for a starting price of $1299. This model will consist of a Core i3 processor, 4 GB of RAM and 1TB of storage space for Windows. The Android tablet will be powered by a Tegra 3 processor, 2 GB of RAM and will have 32GB of storage space.
