With online streaming platforms becoming the final destination for all movies and web shows, the competition continues to grow more intense with time. While there’s a plethora of new engaging web series and movies arriving on Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+ Hotstar and other OTT platforms every week, things are expected to get more exciting with the arrival of new shows like Farzi, Indian Police Force and a few more in 2023. Bollywood actor Shahid Kapoor is all set to make his OTT debut with Raj and DK’s highly-anticipated series Farzi. The plot of the crime thriller is reported to revolve around an ambitious artist, who gets dragged into a high stakes con job. But with a task force officer, who is adamant to stop him, the edgy and fast-paced series is expected to keep you glued to the screen till the very end. In addition to Kapoor, Farzi which is expected to release in February 2023, will also feature Vijay Sethupathi, Raashi Khanna, Kay Kay Menon and Regina Cassandra in pivotal roles.
Another Bollywood actor who is gearing up for a grand entry on OTT is Sidharth Malhotra. The Shershaah actor will be teaming up with Shilpa Shetty and Vivek Oberoi for well-known filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s Indian Police Force. But what makes Indian Police Force the talk of the town is the fact that it’s an extension of Shetty’s popular cop universe (Singham, Simmba and Sooryavanshi) on OTT.
Renowned Bollywood actress Kajol, who has featured in a couple of OTT movies, is all set to feature in the Hindi remake of the popular American courtroom drama – The Good Wife. While the 48-year-old actress will headline the upcoming series, the Indian version of The Good Wife is expected to premiere later this year.
The filmmaker duo of Raj and DK are leaving no stone unturned as they have another intriguing web series lined up for release in 2023. Titled Guns & Gulaabs, the upcoming series will revolve around a group of innocent misfits, who end up becoming an integral part of the crime world. Set in the ’90s, Guns & Gulaabs is expected to release in February, and will feature Rajkummar Rao, Dulquer Salmaan, Adarsh Gourav and Gulshan Devaiah in significant roles.
Aditya Roy Kapur is another popular name from the Hindi film industry who is all set to make his presence felt in the digital world. The 37-year-old actor teams up with Sobhita Dhulipala and Anil Kapoor for Sandeep Modi’s web series which is inspired by the Primetime Emmy Award-winning series The Night Manager. Kapur will play the role essayed by Tom Hiddleston in the English version.
After impressing the audience with Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story, filmmaker Hansal Mehta has collaborated with Tushar Hiranandani for another supremely engaging story based on the life of Abdul Karim Telgi. While Gagan Dev Riar has been roped in to essay the titular role in the upcoming web series, the intriguing journey of Telgi from a fruit seller to the biggest scam artist in the country will keep you hooked.
One of the most-awaited web series in the country, Mirzapur is all set to return with a whole new exciting season soon. Lead actor Ali Fazal recently shared a post on social media announcing that he has wrapped the shooting schedule of the third season. Thanking the entire unit of Mirzapur, Fazal wrote, “To my most dearest and loved team, thank you sooooo much for the love and hardwork you brought to the world of Mirzapur . Season 3 has been a very different journey for me, as have the other two seasons. But u must know I say this because i and Guddu Pandit derive every ounce from ever person working on those sets to help build what you eventually see out there. You may not realise it but you all have helped me in ways I cannot write down.” While the post has raised a lot of curiosity around the release of the new season, it’ll be interesting to see Fazal, Pankaj Tripathi, Rasika Dugal and others reunite on the screen once again.
Get ready for an entertaining ride as Manoj Bajpayee and Konkona Sensharma come together for a thrilling drama that will blow your mind. The plot of Soup follows an ambitious chef who comes up with an ominous plan to replace her husband with her lover. But her master plan gets derailed when a cop and a few local goons get involved in it. Don’t forget to bookmark this dark comedy arriving on OTT in 2023.
Actors Shweta Tripathi, Tahir Raj Bhasin and Arunoday Singh starrer Yeh Kaali Kaali Ankhein which garnered a good response online, is all set to return with another exciting season on January 14. Set in the fictional town of Onkara, the upcoming crime thriller which revolves around the lives of its lead characters (Vikrant, Purva and Shikha) is expected to raise the entertainment quotient once again.
The makers of The Family Man starring actor Manoj Bajpayee will be returning with another intriguing story this year, per ABP. While the second season ended on a cliffhanger, it did reveal that the third season would be set in the Covid times where Srikant Tiwari and his team will have an uphill task of stopping the Chinese from attacking our country.
Actor Jim Sarbh is all set to reprise his role of Homi Jehangir Bhabha in the second season of Rocket Boys. According to the teaser dropped by the makers of the intriguing series, the second season is expected to follow the events that led to the first nuclear bomb test in Pokhran in 1974. Ishwak Singh, who essayed the role of Vikram Sarabhai in the first season, is also expected to return for the second season.
