HTC is now gearing up to push the latest version of Android 4.3 Jelly Bean for HTC One within the next weeks. In the meantime, for those interested, we have come across an unofficial ROM called “Maximus HD 12,” which is available for download on XDA developers.

This package, the latest version Android 4.3 Jelly Bean (firmware 3.09.401.1) released in late July, is accompanied by the customized interface HTC Sense 5. In addition to new features introduced in Android 4.3 (stock version), Auto-highlight reel feature (already available in HTC One Mini) is added, which allows to choose music for HTC’s automatic video highlight reels and where the pictures are synced with the beat of the music. Other features include a new shortcut to see data usage in Task Manager and an app to setup Wi-Fi hotspots have been added. Besides, some new BlinkFeed features are likely to come with the new Android 4.3 release, but no details were given.

Indeed, HTC One owners are looking for their first big software update, and we recommend waiting for a while because the Taiwanese manufacturer has promised to release the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update for the U.S. version of the HTC One by the end of September, and soon after the update will reach the rest of the territories.

In conclusion, it is advised, not to use unofficial ROM update as it’s only for Advanced users, who are able to restore the device in case of problems or malfunctions. The use of unofficial ROMs may also void your product warranty.
